caroline gave me a makeover. a new shag rug from Costco Home. powder room done. new tweed living room chair. a throw pillow in my favorite cool tone colors. a sunny window in my girls' bathroom (not something I would consider my style but I love this oval window).
one night away to the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale with M.
a Randall cousins reunion pool party here. firing up the hot tub for about 16 shivering Randall cousins. in our WAY below average weather [of only 93 degrees]. big girl pants on Charlotte.

So fun! I hope your below average temps continue in July...we're spending the last week in Scottsdale for a family reunion and we think we may die a slow death with temps like 115?? We're used to chilly summers. Today was foggy and windy (freezing really) with a high of 60 here in sunny? California...burr. I think it almost snowed. Love your 11 things, especially the cousins. Love cousins. ~Heather
P.S. Are you near Scottsdale? Do you know of a place where we can get an old fashioned picture taken of our family. Maybe within a 30 minute drive? Thanks, H
heather,
i just spent a little time googling "old fashioned family portraits" and such and found nothing but I guarantee you there's got to be something in Old Town Scottsdale. We got one of those done two years ago in the Black Hills of South Dakota near Mount Rushmore and it's hysterical. My 6 year old (at the time) Caroline looked like the madame of a brothel. Surely they'll do a more tasteful job in classy Scottsdale! (it didn't help that I let Caroline pick our her outfit). I'll keep searching for you and let you know if I come up with anything. Also, a fun place for you guys to eat with the kids if you're near North Scottsdale (where are you staying?) is Greasewood Flat. Check it out online. It's a unique place with a western flair and live music on weekends. Beautiful scenery near Pinnacle Peak, too.
I live in Gilbert, which is in the southeast (Scottsdale is northeast of Phoenix), but if you're around and want to come swim, gimme a jingle! :) (480)279-1792.

Looks like they have a Photo Emporium - super fun for the family too! ;)
Thanks, Karen!! We rented a house called Casa Saguaro in Scottsdale, but I don't know exactly what area it's in. But we'll definitely check out Old Town and Greasewood Flat. Thanks for the recommendations and for looking into the photos for me!

AND - We LUV Greasewood flats! Didn't even know that place was still around -we use to go there as young'ns... mostly in the winter months so we could eat outside by the fire... goodtimes.
Karen- I'm pretty sure that new chair would go nicely in my house, do tell me your source! And I love the patience it takes to sit for a makeover! Awh the joys.
Jen,
I got that chair half price at Robb & Stucky in North Scottsdale. They are having a pretty good sale right now on some stuff. It was on sale because there was only one of them. I love it!
R took me to the Valley Ho last year for my birthday. I loved the retro rooms...a cool blast from the past!
Charlotte is wearing big girl pants..What the!? How old is that girl? She must be a prodigy.
Oh wow, how special I feel that you included me in your thoughts of happy things. Thanks!!!! And I do so love the things you pointed out. Your house is the bomb and now I need to get "on the stick" and do my duty for MY little 2 year old's little booty. Man, I have gotten lazy about the potty training (besides totally forgetting how to go about the whole thing!)
Oh to see you again!!!!! :)
Glad you are back'ish to blogging! :)
Karen, WOW!!! fantastic house! How awesome for you!
That was a great pool party! Thanks again for having us. Love the makeover by the way. You're such a good sport!
