Up, Up, and Away!

Yesterday, along with other NieNieDialogue fans around the world, we released balloons filled with well wishes for Stephanie and Christian.

I, for one, can't seem to get this family off my mind. I can't imagine not being able to see my four kids indefinitely, when that would be ALL I CRAVED. They've moved to Utah to be with Stephanie's sisters for a few weeks. At least they will be well cared for and loved like crazy. Recovery updates on Nie's sister Courtney's blog.

Hey Karen,

Sweet post. It is such a devastating situation. It just breaks your heart. I really can't think of a worse situation to have to endure. What a blessing that they have such a wonderful family to help with their kids.

Dalton starts school tomorrow. He is insisting that I NOT walk him to school, as that would be the most mortifying experience of his life- being seen with his mom. Then there is Shelby, who had her pre-school orientation today and would not disconnect herself from my thigh. It must be the ages.

We have got to get your sisters blogging.

oh, btw, did you see the dem's convention tonight? I know that you are going to gag, but I loved Michelle Obama. What did you think of her?

Hey Ash,
I decided to go to yoga instead of watching the Dem convention. This helps me avoid regular nervous breakdowns, whereas watching Dems blather on about "hope" without any real concrete pragmatic policy does NOT help me avoid regular breakdowns.
Actually, I don't mind Michelle Obama. I think she's a pretty classy lady. Truth is, sadly, that I've been pretty apathetic to politics lately, which isn't like me. It seems I've been barely able to keep my head above water, and so that's been something I've not put forth the effort for.

I have been pretty out of it too. My International Relations Professor said that having a Dem vs Republican doesn't make a whole lot of difference anyway. The congress is where they get things done (or fail to). The office of the President is like the student body president in High School- just a face or an image of what we want to portray to the rest of the world. Granted, Bush has declared war and appointed judges...so he has done things, but the majority of what he wanted to do (social security reform, etc) had to be done in congress. Long story short- do we think that McCain or Obama is face that we want to show the rest of the world? I think that both of them would be pretty good at reaching across party lines, which is the key to getting anything accomplished. (On a side note- what do you think of Cindy McCain?
